The 32 year old, whose previous win also came on Portuguese soil two years ago, fired a closing 71 to finish ten under par for the week at the stunning Seve Ballesteros-designed Porto Santo Golfe. The win took Hoey to World Ranking 220 and with an improvement of 154 places. |
Wed, 1st Jun 2011 Lee Westwood claimed his second victory in succession to maintain his position as World Number One. Westwood carded a flawless closing round of 67 to win the Ballantine's Championship in South Korea ahead of Ryder Cup team-mate Miguel Angel Jimenez. He birdied the 18th to set the clubhouse target on 12 under par, before watching from the locker room as Jimenez failed to match that finish to force a play-off. Jimenez finished second on 11 under after a closing 71, with Korea's Sang-hyun Park a shot further back in third and American Dustin Johnson fourth on nine under. |

This was 25 years after he first played in this competition. The 42 year old finished one shot clear of Thorbjorn Olesen and joint overnight leader Mark Foster after holding his nerve in impressive fashion over the notoriously difficult closing stretch at Le Golf National. While others faltered throughout the day, Levet went round in 70 for the third round out of four this week to finish on seven under. Levet jumped from 352nd to 137th in the World Ranking. |

The Northern Irishman used all his experience to grind out a final round 69 and deny Chris Wood, who shot 76 to make his maiden victory. The 42 year old finished with a six under par total at the Pula course designed by his final round playing partner Jose Maria Olazabal, with Wood tying for second with compatriot David Lynn. Clarke climbed 36 places to World Ranking 88th. |

The World Number One and World Number Two traded blows all day, and Lee Westwood total of 68 drew him level with his compatriot after 72 holes. For the first time in his career Donald now heads the Official World Golf Ranking. After pitching his third to six feet at the first extra hole, he looked on as Westwood spun his into the water.
