Tavira East Algarve Golf Festival 2016 Mon, 18th Jul 2016 A combination of five golf courses in the Eastern Algarve are holding an Eastern Algarve Golf Festival from the 26th of November through to the 3rd of December. These will be Benamor, Quinta do Vale, Monte Rei, Castro Marim and Quinta de Cima. Details can be obtained from any of the five courses. |
Boavista Nike Shoot Out Sat, 30th Jul 2016 A field of 84 golfers participated in the 'Nike Shoot Out' held on the Boavista Course on July 9th. Clive Hastie and Ian Bond took place on the day with 34 points. |
Gramacho Lions Club Tournament on the 20th of August Mon, 25th Jul 2016 On the 20th of August the Lions Club of Lagoa will hold its annual Stableford tournament over 18 holes on the Gramacho Course. The purpose of this event is to raise funds for needy locals and in particular to financially assist the Medical Student already studying at Porto University. Entry is 35 Euros for all participants. Senior Tour - Paul Broadhurst
Mon, 25th Jul 2016 Senior Open Championship - Carnoustie - Angus - Scotland - 21st to 24th July. The English golfer Paul Broadhurst added an important win to his previous victory on the Senior Tour by taking the Open Senior Championship by two strokes. In second place was Scott MacCarron from the USA whilst in third place was both Magnus P. Atlevi and Miguel Angel Jimenez. Paul Broadhurst is now the leader in the Senior Rankings. |
Ladies European Tour - Isabelle Boineau
Mon, 25th Jul 2016 Scottish Open - Dundonald Links - Scotland - 22nd to 24th July. French golfer Isabelle Boineau won by one stroke in Scotland at the Aberdeen Scottish Open. In second place was Swedish player Linda Wessberg with Beth Allen and Becky Morgan in joint third place. Isabelle Boineau moved to second position in the Ladies European Rankings. |
Challenge Tour - Adrien Saddier
Mon, 18th Jul 2016 Fred Olsen Challenge de Espana -Tecina Golf - La Gomera - Canary Islands - Spain - 14th to 17th July. French golfer Adrien Saddier won by three strokes from Italian Nicolo Ravano in the Canary Islands. Four players tied in third place, Dylan Fritelli, Carlos Del Moral, Christofer Blomstrand and Ross Kellett. Saddier moved to 10th place in the Road to Oman. |
European Tour - Henrik Stenson
Mon, 18th Jul 2016 145th Open - Royal Troon - Ayrshire - Scotland - 14th to 17th July. After a battle royal on the Sunday between Swedish Henrik Stenson and Phil Mickelson from the USA, Stenson ended 20 shots below par with Mickelson at 17, and bringing him his eleventh win on the Tour. Their nearest competitor lying in third place was J.B. Holmes with only 6 below par. Major history was made by Stenson score beating by three strokes Greg Norman's 1993 record. Stenson moved to 5th place in the World Rankings and 2nd in the Race to Dubai. |
Senior Tour - Andrew Oldcorn
Mon, 18th Jul 2016 Winston Senior Open - Winstongolf - Vorbeck - Germany - 8th to 10th July. Scotish golfer Andrew Oldcorn won his second Senior Tour win in Germany in a play-off with Englishman Paul Broadhurst. One stoke more were Bernard Langer, Peter Fowler and Magnus P. Atlevi. This win moved Andrew Oldcorn into fifth place in the Senior Rankings. |
Challenge Tour - Espen Kofstad
Mon, 18th Jul 2016 Slovakia Challenge - Penati - Senica - Slovakia - 7th to 10th July. Espen Kofstad from Norway now has three wins on the Challenge Tour with his success in Slovakia by winning a play-off with Romain Langasque from France. Lying in third place was James Heath from England. Kofstad is now placed in fourth position in the Race to Oman. |
European Tour - Alex Noren
Mon, 18th Jul 2016 Scottish Open - Castle Stuart - Inverness - Scotland - 7th to 10th July. Alex Noren from Sweden claimed his fifth Tour win in the Scottish Open by a one stroke advantage over English golfer Tyrell Hatton and two strokes over a combination of third placed winners, Nicolas Colsaerts, Danny Lee and Matteo Manassero. This placed Alex Noren in 49th position in the World Rankings and 9th in the Race to Dubai. |
Challenge Tour - Bernd Ritthammer
Mon, 18th Jul 2016 Denmark Challenge - Aalborg - Denmark - 30th to 3rd July. Bernd Ritthammer from Germany won his maiden Challenge Tour win in Denmark by one stroke from Dutchman Jurrian Van Der Vaart. One stroke further back was South African Dylan Frittelli and American John Hahn. With this success he moved to fourth place in the Race to Oman. |
Senior Tour - Tim Thelen
Mon, 18th Jul 2016 Swizz Seniors Open - Bad Ragaz - Swizerland - 1st to 3rd July. USA golfer Tim Thelen brought his wins on the Seniors Tour up to five with his victory in Switzerland. He ended only one stroke less than three competitors. These were two from Spain, Pedro Linhart and Miguel Angel Martin, and the third being Simon P. Brown from England. This win also placed Tim Thelen in fifth place in the Seniors Rankings. |
European Tour - Thongchai Jaidee
Mon, 18th Jul 2016 Open de France - Le Golf National - Paris - France - 30th to 3rd July. Hhonmgchai Jaidee from Thailand claimed his eighth victory on the Tour in Paris. He ended four strokes less than Italian golfer Francisco Molinari, and five strokes from Rory McIlroy from Northern Ireland. This win placed him in 57th place in the World Rankings and 9th in the Race to Dubai. |

Mon, 18th Jul 2016 Scottish Hydro Challenge - MacDonald Spey Valley - Aviemore - Scotland - 23rd to 26th June. English golfer James Heath gained his second win on the Challenge Tour in Scotland placing him in 9th position in the Challenge Tour Rankings. Heath ended with two strokes less than Ryan Fox from New Zealand and three strokes from Jordan Smith and Damien Perrier. |

Mon, 18th Jul 2016 BMW International Open - Gut Laerchenhof - Pulheim - Germany - 23rd to 26th June. Henrik Stenson from Sweden gained his 10th win on the Tour in Germany at the BMW Open. He finished with a three stroke lead over South African Darren Fitchardt and Denmark's Thorbjorn Olesen. Stensdon moved to 7th place in the World Rankings and 6th in the Race to Dubai. |

American golfer Dustin Johnson gained his third Tour win at the US Open in Pennsylavia moving him to fifth place in the World Rankings. After an unfortunate incident he still finished with a three stroke lead over a tied second place between Jim Furyk, Shane Lowry and Scott Piercy. |

Swedish player Simon Forsstrom gained his maiden Challenge Tour win in Belgium placing him in twelve place in the Challenge Rankings. He ended with a two stroke advantage over Englishman Steven Tiley and four strokes over Alexander Knappe from Germany. This victory placed him in 12th place in the Challenge Rankings. |
