Golf in Albufeira

The charming old centre of Albufeira has always been a very popular destination for tourists to the Algarve. Albufeira was once a thriving seaport and had its own castle that was unfortunately destroyed in the earthquake of 1755.

The town of Albufeira economic situation immensely improved with the advent of tourism to the Algarve and the construction of Faro Airport in the 1960s. For night entertainment in Albufeira there is a plentiful choice of bars, restaurants and clubs. To the east of Albufeira there is a road known as the 'Strip' lined with bars and places to eat. It has built an internationally reputation for its nightlife. Whilst on the west side of the town is the Boat Marina which provides a more sophisticated atmosphere with its many yachts and quayside bars and restaurants.

On the west side of Albufeira is the 18-hole Salgados Golf Course which is a 'Links' style of course and which includes many water hazards. There are also two well kept popular 9-hole courses on the east side of the town, the Pine Cliffs Golf Course and the Balaia Golf Course.

Within comfortable driving distance are holiday two destinations for the entertainment of the whole family. The Zoomarine' park has dolphins, animals and various other attractions. The other is the water park 'Aqualand Algarve' which is open during the summer season.

Nice par3 short game practice
Nice short Par 3, 9 hole course offers good short game practice and beginners golf. Would not suit golfers looking for full round golf. Not too busy when I played and course / greens in good condition. I would book and play Balaia again for short game practice.

Fun course requiring careful club/shot selection
Fun course, with plenty of variety in holes. Unfortunately the greens had recently been treated, so putting surfaces were poor. Well organised course, but no driving range only a large net and practice chipping and putting areas. Would be a tough course on a very windy day, given there’s water on many holes.
Pine Cliffs by Martin from United Kingdom
Fun course, but disappointed with 6/15th hole
Fun course in a lovely setting around the cliffs and resort complex.. Nice practice facilities but short driving ‘range’ so could not hit anything beyond 20m. Play was rather slow for such a short course and unfortunately the signature 6/15th hole was not open/available from the back tees (white). No buggies allowed only pull carts.

Beautiful course
The people of the course are very kindly and it’s a beatiful area to play. It looks easy to play but some holes are ready tuf.

Nice Laguna course
Nice course in very good condition. Lot of water, what it makes necessary to play precisely. A nice laguna course.
