50thGolf Anniversary
Sun, 24th Apr 2016 From June this year the Algarve will be celebrating its 50th Anniversary of the opening of its first golf course at the Penina in 1966. All major courses are participating by using special 'golden tees' and it is said that their will be launched a website offering players this year 50 free rounds to be played in 2017 - exact details have yet to be launched! |
Benamor Benamor Golf Classic Sat, 16th Apr 2016 The 2nd Benamor Golf Classic 2016 is being held on April 16th with the format of 4 Ball Better Ball. The next and and 3rd Benamor Golf Classic 2016 will be held on 7th of May with a Foursomes format. The 4th Benamor Golf Classic 2016 will be held on 11th of June with a Cross-Country Strokeplay format. |
European Tour - Soomin Lee
Mon, 25th Apr 2016 Shenzhen International - Genzon - Shenzhen - China - 21st to 24th April. South Korean golfer Soomin Lee claimed his maiden win on the Tour by two strokes in Shenzhen. His nearest rivals were both Dutchman Joost Luiten and Branden Stone from South Africa. Soomin Lee moved to 127th place in the World Rankings and 10th in the Race to Dubai. |
European Tour - Andrew Johnston
Mon, 25th Apr 2016 Open de Espana - Real Club Valderama - San Roque - Andulucia - Spain - 14th to 17th April. English golfer Andrew Johnston gained his first Tour win by one stroke from Dutchman Joost Luiten. Only one stroke further back was Spain's Sergio Garcia. This victory placed him 123rd in the World Rankings and 17th in the Race to Dubai. |
European Challenge Tour - Jordan Smith
Mon, 25th Apr 2016 Red Sea Egyptian Challenge - Sokhna - Ain Sokhna - Suez - Egypt - 20th to 23rd April. English golfer 23 year old Jordan Smith claimed in Egypt his maiden win on the Challenge Tour by two strokes over his three equal rivals, Austrian Manuel Trappel, Englishman Garrick Porteous and Swizz Joel Girrbach. |

Tue, 12th Apr 2016 Masters - Augusto National - Augusta - Georgia - USA - 7th to 10th April. The last day of play was full of surprises! Jordan Spieth had led the field from the first day and was comfortably holding his lead until he played the twelfth hole on the Sunday - he ended it with a triple bogey! Englishman Danny Willett who had been mainly in his shadow came from behind and sailed into a final three stroke victory. Lying equal second with Spieth was fellow Englishman Lee Westwood. |
