Vale do Lobo Ocean Description

The Ocean Golf Course in Vale do Lobo is a sister course to the Royal. The name of this course is appropriately suggesting is enviable location. As an older golf course it had a strong influence in placing the Algarve as a destination in the golfing world. The fairways have a tendency to be narrow and accuracy is imperative when playing. The Ocean Golf Course holes wander through pine trees with wonderful views of the sea between the homes lining the sides of the fairways. Some of the holes take you along the cliff top with the blue Atlantic sea as the backdrop.

Great course with some lovely holes. Greens lets it down slightly though in Nov 24. They were slow and very soft. But that’s probably just the time of year and them looking to protect them.
Vale do Lobo Ocean Course Review

Check in was very easy and Staff were all friendly. The course was busy but pace of play moved well and we took around 4.5hrs to play the 18 holes. The Course is not maintained in terms of unfilled divots on the fairways, which was disappointing. Vale do Lobo should make it mandatory for every player to carry a Sand Bags on their Golf Trolley/Bag and provide Bottles of Sand on each Cart, so that divots can be filled in on the fairways. Also despite signs on every flag on the greens, players were failing to repair their pitch marks. We also noticed that the Greenkeeping Staff are allowing the Kikuyu grass to encroach onto the Greens which will negatively affect the putting surface, unless they work on this very soon. In summary, we were slightly disappointed with Vale Do Lobo Ocean Course, in terms of the maintenance of the course, and would choose other better maintained courses in the area, to get our value for money in the future.
