Pinhal Description

Pinhal Golf Course is situated in Vilamoura as a sister to the other four golf courses. It is laid out through the pine tree forest and is set back from the tourist beach area. The outward nine holes wander through the holiday villas that line the fairways. The well positioned bunkers make the course very enjoyable for the players, testing their choice of clubs and their accuracy. The Par 4 on the fourth hole is difficult to achieve with water waiting for the erring shot. The Par 3 on the eighth of 149 metres is also trickier than it first appears. The back nine-holes have a more open feel but the slightly altered fifteenth will cause a problem to meet the Par 4 it requires.

My wife and I played at Pinhal as the first game of a recent trip to Vilamoura. We have played there many times over the past decade or so, during which time the quality of the course has been variable, but this year was the best I've ever seen it. The greens were in great condition and the fairways were lush and well maintained. It is a credit to the greenstaff to present the course the way it is with the water supply restrictions affecting all courses on the Algarve. I would recommend the course to anyone planning to play in Vilamoura in the future.

Lovely wide open and friendly course. Played with family and range of abilities and everyone enjoyed the day. So much we played again a few days later!
