Wow- What a course !

Our first time playing Ombria and it blew us away. A course built from scratch in the hills of the Algarve and looks to be getting better by the week as it matures. We have played the Quinta’s , Vale Do Lobos , Dom pedro’s and the discussion at dinner was Ombria is equal to the Old Course with some having it even better. Front nine is very strategic and picking the right landing spots is key , back nine opens more for driver with the 18th being a brilliant risk & reward hole. Some of tee shots are so high above the greens it’s even hard to believe they were able to built them there, The greens are tricky and 3 putts is not uncommon but that’s more down the golfer being too greedy, know your limitations. Brilliant welcome from every staff member we met and they very helpful to us, we are already talking about going back !

Played Ombria 2 years running now, It is an interesting course. would suggest doing a twilight here, as costs were substantially brought down. Lovely clubhouse and views, greens very tricky. Could have done with being provided water with the buggies, especially as there no food/drink carts on the course. Worth playing though.
