Alto Golf Description

The Alto Golf Course is a 18 hole course located close to the fishing village of Alvor near to Portimao. This course is situated close enough to the ocean to give the player an occasional sea view. A simple par 3 opens your round but it is deceiving to what is in store. The Alto Golf Course is considered a good test of the ability of the player with strategic bunkers, dog-legs, elevated greens and well placed trees. A further noteworthy challenge is the par 5 on the sixteenth that is considered to be one of the longest holes in Europe.

Nice course, pretty difficult with tight fairways and elevated greens and some blind shots, had to wait on every tee for around 5-7 mins which was pretty annoying, one of slowest rounds of golf I’ve been on.

Abwechslungsreicher Platz in der Nähe von Alvor mit vielen nicht ganz leichten Löchern. Die ganze Familie - jung wie alt - spielen den Platz sehr gerne.

We have played Alto Golf a few times over the last 19 years, but not since Pestana took it over. Previously very hit and miss with condition of course and pace of play. Now, very good tees and greens. Lush fairways which look great, but can slow down run of the ball. All over in good condition and no problem with pace of play. We will be back!
Great golf, chaotic service

Course is in great condition. Greens very consistent. Some tough par 4’s and 2 lovely short par 3’s. No half way drinks stop so stock up at the clubhouse after 9. Service is pretty slow at the bar and the golf starter and his ‘system’ are pretty chaotic, bearing no relation to your booked time ! But ….an enjoyable round. Use the twilight option to get 36 euro green fee. But don’t try checking in before 14.45 ! All very smoothly organised by Algarve Golf. Obrigado !
