From the 13th to the 20th of February the five East Algarve Golf Courses are holding a week long joint competition ending with the final day on the Monte Rei Course.

Million Dollar Hole in One

Million Dollar Hole in One has announced that in 2015 they had a record of 10 hole in ones in Portugal, winning each successful golfer an all expenses paid trip to Las Vegas in June this year. Each winner will then have a chance to win $1m in a single shot on the famous Bali Hai Golf Club on Las Vegas Boulevard.

The Million Dollar Hole in One challenge can now be found on 20 courses across Portugal most of which are in the Algarve.

The John Bull Trophy was played on the Estoril Course near Lisbon by Club members with Denys Stormont gained a clear victory with 35 points.

During the winter the Santo Antonio Golf Course hold a competition every Friday from 10.00 hrs with prizes for 1st and 2nd place. Open to both members and visitors. Entry Fee is 3 Euros plus green fee and just book in on arrival.

Local Algarvian Ricardo Santos won the Palmares Pro Classic IV by just the one stroke from two English golfers, Reece Samson and Darren Wright.

Sam Robertshawe - Algarve Pro Golf Tour - Palmares Classic V - 8th February.

English golfer Sam Robeertshawe took the win by one stroke on the Palmares Course from fellow Englishman James Steven with Tom Hayward in third place. The best placed Portuguese player was Ricardo Santos in eight position.

Senior Tour - Qualifying School - Finals

Gary Marks led the field by one stroke in the final day of the European Senior Tour Qualifying Finals. It was a sunny but windy day with the latter at times tested the players in their placing abilities. Gary Marks from England, Barry Conser from the USA, Brenden McGovern from Ireland, Magnus Atlevi from Sweden and Ken Tarling from Canada earned their Senior Tour Cards and now have access to the European Senior Tour Schedule of events which includes the famous Carnoustie Course on the 21st of July.

Clark Dennis - Qualifying School - Gramacho - Carvoeiro -Lagoa - Algarve - 28th to 29th January, 2016.

English golfer Clark Dennis finished three strokes less than his nearest rival Jose Romero from Spain on the Gramacho Course in Carvoeiro in the Algarve.

Jose Buendia - Qualifying School - Silves - Algarve - 28th to 29th January, 2016.

Spanish golfer Jose Buendia lead the field on the final day on the Silves Course in the Algarve. Two amateurs from England followed with two stokes behind, Martin Haddock and Paul Scarrett.

Korean golfer Hyo Joo Kim led the field on the final day with a two stroke lead from Stacy Lewis, Sei Young Kim and Anna Nordqvist.

EURASIA CUP - Glenmarie - Kuala Lumpur - Malaysia - 15th to 17th January 2016.

The Europe Team with Darren Clarke as their Captain romped home with an 18.1/2 points win over the 5.1/2 point of the Eurasia Team led by Jeev Milkha Singh.

Haru Nomura - Women's Australian Open - The Grange West - Australia - 18th to 21st of February, 2016.

Japanese golfer Haru Nomura gained her maiden win on the LET Tour with her two stroke advantage over Lydia Ko. In third place was Karrie Webb a further four strokes back.

Marcus Fraser - Maybank Championship - Royal Selangor - Kuala Lumpur - Malaysia - 18th to 21st February.

Australian golfer Marcus Fraser won his third Tour title in Kuala Lumpur when he ended two strokes less than Miguel Tabuena and Soomin Lee. With this success Marcus Fraser moved to 62nd place in the World Rankings and 6th in the Race to Dubai.

Lydia Ko - New Zealand Open - Clearwater - New Zealand - 12th to 14th February, 2016.

World's NÂș 1 golfer Lydia Ko from New Zealand won the Bew Zealand Open by two strokes from Danish Felicity Johnson and Korean Hye Jin Choi. A local 5.8 earthquake some ten minutes before her final tee-off did not disturb her concentration to make her third win out of four attempts of this leading event.

Charl Schwartzel - Tshwane Open - Pretoria - Waterkloof - South Africa - 11th to 14th February.

South African Charl Schwartzel added another Tour victory to his total of 10 with his win in Waterkloof. He finished eight strokes less than his nearest challenger, Jeff Winther from Denmark. Following-up behind were two fellow South Africans, Anthony Michael and Justin Walters.

Danny Willett (England) - Dubai desert Classic - Emirates - Dubai - UAE - 4th to 7th February, 2016. By one stroke Danny Willett gained victory in Dubai which was his seventh win on the Tour. Following him were Andy Sullivan from England and Alvaro Cabrera-Bello from Spain. This victory placed him 13th in the World Rankings and 3rd in the Race to Dubai.

Branden Grace - Qatar Masters - Doha - Qatar - 27th to 30th January, 20016.

South African Branden Grace took his 7th win on the Tour by beating with two strokes both Rafa Cabrera-Bello and Thorbjorn Olesen. Grace moved to 11th position in the World Rankings and 2nd place in the Race to Dubai.

Rickie Fowler - Abu Dhabi Championship - Abu Dhabi - United Arab Emirates - 21st to 24th January 2016.

American golfer Rickie Fowler gained his second victory on the European Tour in Abu Dhabi. He ended one stroke less than Belgium player Thomas Pieters and Henrik Stenson and Rory McIlroy were just the one stroke further back. Rickie Fowler moved to 4th place in the World Rankings.

Haydn Porteous - Joburg Open - Royal Johannesburg - South Africa - 14th to 17th January 2016.

South African golfer Haydn Porteous gained his maiden victory on the Tour with his two stroke win over Swedish Bjorn Akesson. This was his first important win and he moved to 215th place in the World Rankings and 10th in the Race to Dubai.

Brandon Stone - BMW SA Open - Glendower - Ekurhuleni - South Africa - 7th to 10th January 2016.

This was Branden Stone's first win on the Tour beating fellow South African Christiaan Bezuidenhout by two strokes. In third place was Englishman Daniel Brooks. With this win he moved into 116th position in the World Rankings and 8th in the Race to Dubai.
