Today the Santo Antonio Golf Course commences its annual autumn golf festival that runs until the 28th.

7th afpop-Medal Insurance Tournament

The Penina Championship course was the scene of the 7th afpop-Medal Insurance tournament with over sixty golfers. The winners were Jack Archibald and Liz Turner. The date is now fixed for the 8th tournament which will be 13th of September, 2017.

7th Benamor Amateur Tournament

Benamor Course will be holding its 7th Amateur Stapleford Golf Classic on the 17th of September. A shotgun start will be held at 08:30 and the tournament will also include a lunch for all players - Per golfer € 60.00.

Charity Event

The Rotary Club of Estoi held a charity tournament followed by a dinner at the Monte Rei Golf and Country Club. A total of sixty-six golfers participated and around € 6,000 was successfully raised for local charities.

Arnold Palmer

At the splendid age of 87 the world famous golfer Arnold Palmer has joined his fellow players in being a past great memory. He claimed 92 important victories in his Pro golfing career which started in 1954. He was four times a Master winner and two times a Open winner. He also was a team player member six times in the USA Ryder Cup Team.

Ladies European Tour - Azahara Munoz

Andalucia Open de Espana Feminino - Alohoa - Andalucia - Spain - 22nd to 25th September, 2016.

Home grown Spanish golfer Azahara Munoz gained the winners prize in Spain by a one stroke finish over American Beth Allen. In third place was tied two English ladies, Georgia Hall and Sophie Walker. This victory placed Azahara Munoz in 13th position in the Rankings.

Challenge Tour - Alexander Levy

European Open - Bad Griesback - Germany - 22nd to 25th September, 2016.

French player Alex Levy won his third European Tour event in a play-off against Englishman Ross Fisher in Germany. Three strokes behind were two Swedish golfers, Robert Karlsson and Michael Jonzon. This win place Alex Levy in 29th place in the Race to Dubai and 171st in the World Rankings.

Ladies European Tour - In Gee Chun

Evian Championship - Evian Golf Club - Evian Les Bains - France - 15th to 18th September, 2016.

Three South Korean golfers took the final placings in the Evian Championship in France. In Gee Chun finished with 21 strokes under and followed by So Yeon Ryn and Sung Hyun Park with 17.

European Tour - Francesco Molinari

Italian Open- Golf Club Milano - Parco Reale de Monza - Italy - 15th to 18th September, 2016.

Fittingly Francesco gained his fourth win on the Tour in his home country. He finished with a one stroke advantage over England's Danny Willett. Chris Paisley and Nacho Elvira were three strokes further back. Molinari moved into 19th position in the Race to Dubai and his World Ranking is now 43.

Senior Tour - Magnus P- Atlevi

Paris Legends Championship - Le Golf National - Paris - France - 9th to 11th September, 2016.

Swedish golfer Magnus P- Atlevi won his maiden Senior Tour in Paris by two strokes from a trio of players, Philip Golding, Stephen Dodd and Mark Mouland. This victory moved Magnus P. Atlevi into 3rd place on the Senior Ranking.

Ladies European Tour - In-Kyung Kim

Ladies European Masters - Hubbelrath - Germany - 8th to 11th September, 2016.

South Korean In-Kyung Kim stormed home with 63 stokes in her final round giving her a second win on the Tour and an overall five stroke lead in Hubberlrath in Germany. Her nearest rival was Spanish golfer Belen Mozo with Swedish Camilla Lennarth being just one stroke more.

European Tour - Joost Luiten

KLM Open - The Dutch - Spijk - Netherlands - 8th to 11th September, 2016.

Dutch player Joost Luiten gained his fifth win on the European Tour with a three stroke advantage in the Netherlands. This was the second time he has won this local tournament. Lying in second place was Austrian Bernd Wiesberger with South Korean Byeong Hun An coming in third with one stroke more. This victory placed Joost Luiten in 11th place in the Race to Dubai.

Challenge Tour - Bernd Ritthammer

Irish Challenge - Mount Wolseley - Carlow - Ireland - 8th to 11th September, 2016

German golfer gained his second win this season on the Challenge Tour at Carlow in Ireland. Ritthammer ended the day five strokes up with two Englishmen tied second , Marcus Armitage and Sam Walker. In fourth place was Steven Jeppesen from Sweden. With this victory Bernd Ritthammer moved into first place on the Road to Oman.

European Tour - Alex Noren

Omega European Masters - Crans-sur-Sierre - Crans Montana - Switzerland - 1st to 4th September, 2016.

Sweden's Alex Noren brought his total wins on the European Tour up to six in Crans Montana in Switzerland - two this season. He was involved in a play-off with Australian Scott Hend. England's Andrew Johnston three strokes more was in third place. Alex Noren now moved into eighth position in the Race to Dubai.

Challenge Tour - Alvaro Velasco

Cordon Golf Open - Golf Blue Green - Pleneuf - France - 1st to 4th September, 2016.

Alvaro Velasco from Spain with one less stroke claimed his third victory on the Challenge Tour at Pleneuf in France from Alexander Knappe and Oscar Stark both tied second. Jordan L. Smith in fourth place was one stroke more. In the Road to Oman Alvaro Velasco moved into 31st place.

Senior Tour - Andre Bossert
Mon, 5th Sep 2016
Swizz golfer Andre Bossert added a win to his results on the Senior Tour on the Duke's Course in Woburn in the UK. He ended with a four stroke advantage over Philip Golding from England and Ian Woosnam from Wales. Both Peter Fowler and Gordon Manson tied in fourth place just one stroke further back. Andre Bossert moved into sixth position in the Senior Rankings.
