The Rotary Club Estoi is holding its 4th Stapleford Charity Golf day on the 28th of August at the Monte Rei Golf Course. This will be in order to raise funds for local based charities and the entry fee is € 145.00 per person which includes a continental breakfast and a buffet lunch.

On Friday the 2nd of September there will be a Charity Golf event organised in favour of the local 'Refugio dos Burros' which supports abandoned and ill-treated donkeys. It will be a Betterball Stapleford competition and entry is € 45.00 which includes golf, lunch and prizes.
Penina Championship

The Penina is holding a 'Charity Event' on the 13th of August in aid of two local charities. The competition is open to a maximum of 120 entrants. The maximum handicap for the tournament is 28 for men and 36 for women. The cost per golfer is € 60.00 to include the tournament, cocktails and dinner. After dinner there will be live music to dance to end the evening. Dinner and cocktails for non-players will be € 30.00.

Ladies Olympics 2016 - Inbee Park

Olympics 2016 - Rio de Janeiro - Brazil - 16th to 18th August, 2016.

The South Korean golfer Inbee Park gained the Gold Medal in the Olympics of 2016 in Brazil. Five strokes back was Lydia Ko from New Zealand and in third place with only one more stroke was Shanshan Feng from Japan.

European Tour - Thomas Pieters

Made in Denmark - Himmerland -Farso - Denmark - 25th to 28th August, 2016.

The Belgium golfer Thomas Pieters added another success by one stroke in Denmark to bring his total to three wins on the Tour. In second place was Bradley Dredge from Wales, whilst David Lipsky and Adrian Otaegui tied for third place. Thomas Pieters moved into 13th position in the Race to Dubai and 40th in the World Rankings.

Senior Tour - Gary Marks

Senior Golf Classic - Hanbury Manor - Ware - England - 26th to 28th August, 2016.

Gary Marks from England won his first Senior Tour win in Ware with a grand lead of six strokes over Australian Mike Harwood. Scot golfer Ross Drummond was in third place being one stroke behind. This victory placed Gary Marks in 7th place in the Senior Rankings.

Challenge Tour - Thomas Detry

Bridgestone Challenge - Heythrop Park - Enstone - Oxfordshire - England - 25th to 28th August, 2016

Belgium golfer Thomas Detry claimed his maiden win on the Challenge Tour in England with a two stroke lead over Thriston Lawrence from South Africa. Lying in third position was Martin Oveson from Denmark. This victory placed Thomas Detry in 13th place in the Challenge Rankings.

European Tour - Paul Peterson

Czech Masters - Albatross - Prague - Czech Republic - 18th to 21st August, 2016.

American golfer Paul Peterson gained by one stroke his maiden victory on the Tour in Prague. Thomas Pieters was in second place, whilst Ryan Evens was a further three strokes further back. This win placed Paul Peterson in 99th place in the Race to Dubai.

Challenge Tour - Dylan Frittelli

Rolex Trophy - Geneva Golf - Geneva - Switzerland - 17th to 20th August. 2016

The South African golfer Dylan Frittelli with a two stroke lead won in Geneva on the Challenge Tour. Tied in second place was Ryan Fox and Romain Langasque. This was Dylan Frittelli's second win and he moved to 3rd place on the Road to Oman.

Senior Tour - Paul Eales

Scottish Senior Open - Archerfield - Lothian - Scotland - 19th to 21st August, 2016

By only one stroke English golfer Paul Eales claimed his very first victory on the Senior Tour in Scotland. Tied in second place one further stroke back were Peter Fowler and Santiago Luna. This win placed Paul Eales in 13th position in the Senior Rankings.

Senior Tour - Gene Sauers

Senior Open Championship - Scioto - Columbus - Ohio - USA - 11th to 14th August, 2016.

American golfer Gene Sauers gained a one stroke victory over his fellow American Billy Mayfair and Spanish golfer Miguel Angel Jimenez in Ohio on the Seniors Tour. Lying in third position was Welshman Ian Woosman. This was Sauers maiden win on the European Senior Tour.

Olympics 2016 - Justin Rose

Olympics 2016 - Rio de Janeiro - Brazil - 11th to 14th August, 2016.

Great Britain's golfer Justin Rose became the first golf Olympic Champion since 1904. In a gripping final day Justin Rose battled with Sweden's Henrik Stenson and it was only on the final hole that his victory was claimed by one stroke. In third place with only a further stroke back was American Matt Kuchar who had made an impressive charge on the final day.

Challenge Tour - Sam Walker

Finnish Challenge - Vierumaki - Finland - 11th to 14th August, 2016.

English golfer Sam Walker added another win to his total of now four on the Challenge Tour in Finland. His final total of 273 was better by two strokes from the tied second grouping of Julien Guerrier, Scott Henry, Romain Langasque and Darius Van Driel. Sam Walker then moved to 25th position in the Race to Oman.

European Tour - Anthony Wall

Aberdeen Match Play - Archerfield - East Lothian -Scotland - 4th to 7th August, 2016.

This was Anthony Wall's second win on the Challenge Tour after 16 years from his first victory. Englishman Anthony Wall was involved in a play off with Alex Noren from Sweden. He moved to 137th place in the World Rankings and 73rd position in the Race to Dubai.

Challenge Tour - Joel Stalter

Swedish Challenge - Katrineholms - Sweden - 4th to 7th August, 2016.

French golfer Joel Stalter gained his maiden win on the Challenge Tour in Sweden in a play-off between him and Oliver Farr from Wales and Ben Stow from England. This victory moved Joel Stalter into 9th place on the Road to Oman.

European Tour - Shih-Chang Chan

King's Cup - Phoenix - Pattaya - Thailand - 28th to 31st July.

With a lead of two strokes Thai golfer Shih-chang Chan gained his first victory on the Tour. In second place was fellow Thai Wen-tang Lin and in third place was Thai Danthal Boonma. Shih-chang Chan moved into 376 place in the World Rankings.

European Tour - Jimmy Walker

US PGA Championship - Baltusrol - Springfield - New Jersey - USA - 28th to 31st July.

American golfer Jimmy Walker gained his maiden win on the Tour by his one stroke victory over Australian Jason Day. Lying in third place was another American Daniel Summerhays three strokes further back. Walker moved to 15th place in the World Rankings.

Ladies European Tour - Ariya Jutanugarn

British Ladies Open - Marquess - Woburn - England - 28th to 31st July.

The last nine holes on the last day proved a tough battle between Thai golfer Ariya Jutanugarn, Mo Martin from the USAand Mirim Lee from South Korea. It ended with a three stroke victory for Ariya Jutanugarn which was her first Major win for any player from Thailand and Martin and Lee tied second.
