On the 10th of October the Portugal Masters will commence on the Victoria Course in Vilamoura. Confirmed so far in the starting field of players are six golfers in the Top 50 of the World Ranking. From Italy are both Matteo Manassero and Francesco Molinari, from Germany Martin Kaymer, from Wales Jamie Donaldson, from Spain Miguel Angel Jimenez, and finally from Denmark Thomas Bjorn. The Tour Event tickets start at € 10.00 and run to € 50.00 for the whole event. Parking Free and under 16 admitted also free. The Victoria Course will be closed to outside players from the 1st to the 15th of October The well known Le Meridien Hotel Penina and Golf Courses inn the Algarve has been acquired by the JJW Hotels & Resorts and as from the 1st of October it will change its name to The Penina Golf Resort. This company already owns and runs the San Lorenzo and Pinheiros Altos Courses, both in the popular Quinta do Lago Resort near Almancil.

The Parque da Floresta Course in Budens in the western Algarve has now been renamed as the Golf Santo Antonio Resort. We are hoping that visiting golfers will not be confused with this new name with the town of Vila Real de Santo Antonio which is located in the opposite eastern side of the Algarve on the border with Spain.

Thomas Bjorn - (Denmark) Omega European Masters Crans-sur-Sierre - Switzerland - 5th to 8th September, 2013 The Danish golfer Thomas Bjorn won his first European Tour event this year adding to his past total of 13 and moving him to 44th position in the World Rankings. It required a playoff against Scot Craig Lee who fell at the first extra hole. However, Craig Lee has some small solace in that he carded a stunning 61 strokes on the final day - which nearly equalled the first sub-60 round in the history of the European Tour.

Rebecca Artis - (Australia) Helingsborg Open Skane - Sweden - 5th to 8th September, 2013 New South Wales golfer Rebecca Artis won her first Ladies Tour victory coming from five shots behind to beat by one stroke local Swedish player Caroline Hedwell.

Joost Luiten - (Dutch) KLM Open Zandvoort - Holland- 12th to 15th September, 2013 After a sudden-death playoff with England's Simon Dyson on the 18th Hole, local bred Joost Luiten won his third European Tour event in his 127th participation and moved to the Top 60 in the overall World Rankings. This was his second win this season after winning the Lyoness Open in June. He is also the first Dutchman to win more than once during the same European Tour season and the seventh Dutch victory in the Tour history.

Suzann Petterssen - (Norway) The Evian Championship Even-Les-Bains - France - 12th to 15th September, 2013 The 32-year-old Norwegian player Suzann Petterssen beat New Zealand 16-year-old Lydia Ko (Amateur) by two strokes to take the win in a rain-shortened 54-hole event. This was her 19th career victory, the third win this season and her great contribution to the Europe team in the Solheim Cup.

Julien Quesne - (France) Open D'Italia Turin - Italy - 19th to 22nd September, 2013 33 year-old golfer Julien Quesne from France stole the win from Irishman David Higgins and Englishman Steve Webster at the 70th Italian Open by one stroke. This was his second victory on the European Tour in 89 events and moved to be inside the Top 140 players in the World Ranking. It happily also took Julien Quesne into passing the € 1 million mark for his total career golf earnings.

David Howell - (England) Alfred Dunhill Links Championship Old Course - Scotland - 26th to 29th September, 2013 On his 13th attempt English golfer David Howell won the Dunhill Links Championship with his 5th European Tour win in 481 events, and this moved him in to the Top 100 at 94 position in the World Rankings. On the last day he defeated the overnight leader USA golfer Peter Uihlein on the second hole playoff.

Azahara Munoz - (Spain) Ladies Open de France Saint-Jean-de-Luz - France - 26th to 29th September 2013 Spanish 25 year-old Azahara Munoz added another victory making a total of three wins on the Ladies Tour. She came from behind to beat the three French ladies, Gwladys Nocera, Valentine Derrey and Joanna Klaten, who all where strongly competing on the final day. As a winning team member in the recent Solheim Cup she moved into 18 place on the Ladies Ranking.
