Monte Rei on Mon, 26th Aug 2024 Good , but not perfect Great design, maybe the best on the Algarve. Good condition, even in dry August. Played the course as a single in less than 3 hours. Some greens, the first 2 holes are really bad, the rest is not really good. Long walks from the end of the fairways and where you can use the buggy. Over all, for me there is no 5 star world class course on the Algarve, this is the best you can play |

Castro Marim Golf on Fri, 12th Jul 2024 Hidden gem! What a hidden gem of a course, very near to the Portuguese/Spanish border. Perhaps not quite as well maintained in places as some of the more expensive courses in the Algarve, but there are so many interesting holes here that it's easy to forgive that. It's a really enjoyable course with some lovely views. Would absolutely recommend a visit here. |

Monte Rei on Fri, 12th Jul 2024 Fantastic experience Our second trip to this fantastic course. The whole experience here is top notch from arrival to leaving and is based around ensuring that everyone enjoys their day here. Cracking course, that was more challenging this time with the wind getting up, with so many wonderful holes, especially the 13th and 14th and once again, we had the feeling of having the course all to ourselves. I can't imagine a golfing trip to the Algarve that doesn't include a visit here. Simply stunning. |

Monte Rei on Tue, 27th Feb 2024 Not the course it once was Monte Rei remains a stunning golf course and one that I never cease to enjoy playing. This said, the course is way off its best and the yesteryear lush and green fairways have given way to brown bare lies unbefitting of the course. Even the greens are suffering and the course is in desperate need of some tlc and investment. The staff remain excellent and attentive as always. |

Castro Marim Golf on Tue, 27th Feb 2024 Castro Marim on a windy Saturday in late February. We played the Grouse and the Guadiana as the 2x9 combination. On balance the course was in fair condition for February. The fairways were very patchy with preferred lies in operation. The greens were excellent. The downside was the pace of play. Both courses were too difficult (long) for the standard and age profile of those playing. I play off 7 and it was a challenge for me. Push the tees up for both men and women with a handicap recommendation of who should play off which tees. This would speed up play and make it more enjoyable. |

Quinta do Vale on Thu, 1st Feb 2024 Top Course What a surprise, first time we played, fantastic views over the course and it didn’t disappoint, tough track with lots of water and some great fairways and well kept greens which were tricky on some occasions, lovely helpful staff and it’s a walkable course for those that want the excercise |

Monte Rei on Sat, 2nd Dec 2023 Over priced, poor condition. This was to be our treat for our month in the Algarve. But we were so disappointed! For the most expensive course we have played in the algarve, this was a poor golf experience. Which is a shame because all the staff we met from start to finish were first class but the cousre condition did not deserve paying €170 each. The front nine particularly was terrible: fairways were bare in so many places and the greens were poor, presumably because of the drought conditions in the Algarve. It was the worst kept 9 holes we have played this year. However the back 9 for some reason was in better condition. It also has a more 'natural' feel to it. Will not be going back |

Monte Rei on Thu, 16th Nov 2023 Superb service, course condition didn't matc This place is all about the service. When we played the course was in fairly average condition with scrappy fairways and greens having been fertilised. It is a great golf course though, but not the best in Portugal. Such a shame the surrounding foliage has been damaged by wildfires in recent years. The service though is un-paralleled in Europe. From the bag drop, free buggies, plenty of visits from the buggy bar, to the superb pro-shop, friendly staff and excellent bar, you will not be disappointed. I highly recommend paying €5 extra for the post round tapas, which is basically a 3 course meal! |

Quinta do Vale on Fri, 30th Jun 2023 Nice one in the east! Very challenging Golf Course. Narrow Fairways and once you miss this you find yourself in a penalty area or you do not find the ball. Nice staff around and good range and practice facilities. Very good conditions of the fairways and the greens. |

Monte Rei on Thu, 15th Jun 2023 Disappointing This was my 3rd visit to Monte Rei and would have to say that the condition of the course was slightly disappointing. The welcome and attitude of the staff was, as usual, first class. The practice facilities were excellent but I feel there has been a definite decline in the condition of the course. The fairways are very dry, the greens a bit bumpy in places with some showing signs of disease and the bunkers were inconsistent with signs of grass growing through the sand. This course has always been the pinnacle of my visits to the Algarve but I think it may be my last as it is increasingly difficult to justify the undeniably high fees for an disappointing experience. If you do play the course, pay the extra €5 for the tapas. It is outstanding value. |

Quinta do Vale on Mon, 12th Jun 2023 Must visit quim First time we have played east of Faro in our 15 past years of visiting the Algarve. Surpassed our expectations. Phenomenal views from clubhouse over into Spain and Castro Marin. Had a buggy which was needed for back 9, front nine could be walked. Lots of water hazodors on course - need to know where to go on holes1,7 and 10. Great challenge and superbly enjoyable. Caddy master at course and staff were super friendly and welcoming. Definitely go back as awesome value for money compared to other central algarve courses |

Castro Marim Golf on Sun, 14th May 2023 What A Challenge Although a fairly new golf course it was in great condition. The greens are true and fast with all the bunkers in good condition. For what looks like a short course, yardage wise, it is a tough challenge with narrow fairways and steep changes in gradients. Add to this the narrow entrance to greens and run offs and you have to be accurate. The pro shop and bar were both friendly and helpful. A real test of your golf skills. Only small issue was that some fairways had wear and could give you a poor lie. |

Monte Rei on Tue, 9th May 2023 Disappointed I played Monte Rei for about the 6th time last week and for the first time I was disappointed. The service and organisation was excellent, as usual, but the course!! Greens very good, Fairways, poor, Bunkers, the worst I've seen them. The water from the watering system which gathered in the bottom of them, turned them rock hard. None of our group were complimentary of the course. I won't hurry back. |

Quinta do Vale on Tue, 18th Apr 2023 Value for money We quite liked the course - whose two halves had very different characters - lots of water on the first and ups and downs on the second. The course condition was in good condition and the pace of play was good. The staff were very friendly too. It's probably a 3 and a half, but for what we paid it was quite good. |

Monte Rei on Mon, 27th Mar 2023 Still one of the very best :) My third time at Monte Rei and I love everything about the course: it's challenging, especially yesterday when the wind was giving us a hard time (although that's fun as well) but still fair and you get to enjoy marvellous views. The greens still are difficult and at times you have to think about your course management, or simply 'go big or go home / no guts no glory' :) Hence, when we arrived in the morning, at 11.15, there was no possibility to order some breakfast and the way that message was delivered, could have been more friendly. Having said that, at the end of the day, we had the most friendly gentleman serving us for dinner and making us special mocktails :) So, all in all, looking forward to visit again! |

Quinta do Vale on Tue, 14th Mar 2023 No gras on fairway The fairway was to dry and hard. Ball lies on hard turf most the time. Greens are in good conditions. Tees also not so nice. My wife and I will not return this month. The price should be 120.- for two with buggy and not the 165.-. |

Quinta do Vale on Fri, 27th Jan 2023 Schöner Platz, gutes Preis-Leistungsverhältnis. |

Monte Rei on Sat, 12th Nov 2022 Great challenge Lovey course up in the hills . Long par 4s, heavily bunkered greens, great golfing challenge. The, greens and fairways are excellent but a lot of the surrounding trees and shrubs have been destroyed in the forest fires. Its a shame as some of the holes not touched by fire show how beautiful this course has been. |

Monte Rei on Mon, 24th Oct 2022 Poor value for money - not commendable Very disappointing experience. While the weather was not the best during our round, the course didn't live up to Monte Rei's marketing promises and our expectations, given the ultra-high green fees. The staff is very friendly and helpful, but too many details like a slow buggy, not well-maintained bunkers, and rusty steel rakes (!) made for a poor experience. We're not coming back to Monte Rei. |

Monte Rei on Mon, 24th Oct 2022 Apparently I am at fault Abysmal customer service ! My bag was 'secured' to the cart by a member of staff. It fell off having been driven about 250 meters and the driver shaft snapped on the tarmac cart path,. Monte Rei denied any liabilitysaying that it was impossible for their staff to make a mistake in fixing the bag, and it must have been my fault ! Truly shocking |

Castro Marim Golf on Sat, 15th Oct 2022 Challenging course, fantastic views Very picturesque course and quite hilly. Several challenging holes as you would expect in the hills and tight fairways due to shale/rocky edges.
