Vale do Lobo Royal on Mon, 24th Mar 2025 Royal course review Course was very nice though certainly was impacted with recent rains (water in sand bunkers etc.). Pace was very good until the 9th hole with further backups on 12-14. I mentioned to ranger monitoring play they need push some groups along, especially give that you had started to rain. Otherwise a nice day. |

The holes by the ocean are spectacular with the roar of the surf. This is good because it took 5 hours 20 minutes to get round. These courses must inspect handicaps and keep hackers off when it's busy. The wait spoiled a great day. |

However we found it challenging with thick rough and no run on the fairways which makes it a very testing round of golf. It would have been better had the tee times been more structured as we were constantly being asked to let individual and 2 balls through which did slow our game. All staff were very attentive. One minor moan - the on course toilets left a bit to be desired. |

Vale do Lobo Royal on Mon, 6th Jan 2025 Mixed experience twilight round Course is in decent condition. The Layout is interessant and variable. However, greens have quite some holes and fairways consist of a variety of grass types which provides a rather uneven surface sometimes. Due to the heavy rains the night before there were also wet spots but tolerable. Also play was very slow with 5 hours for 18 holes. |

Vale do Lobo Ocean on Wed, 6th Nov 2024 Terrible pace of play! Teed off at 13.50. Far far too many players on the course. I walked off after 15 holes after more than 4.5 hours. The course has a few pretty holes on the back 9 but otherwise extremely average. Condition was average too. The management are to blame for squeezing too many players on the course which means waiting on every tee and ultimately spoiling the golfing experience. One to avoid!!!! |

Vale do Lobo Royal on Wed, 23rd Oct 2024 Excellent condition, tight off the tee Vale do Lobo Royal course was in great condition when we played; perfect tees, fairways and greens. The sand in the bunkers is powder soft, what I imagine the sand that the pros experience to be like. It is an exacting course off the tee. Sometimes there is space to spray it but often holes are flanked by houses meaning you need to drive it straight to play well. There are some real standout holes, specifically the 6th, 7th, 9th, 11th, 14th, 15th and 16th, all of which involve water perfectly placed to provide challenge. But the rest of the course is also memorable. It is relentless off the tee because of the bunker placement, one each side of the fairway between 220 and 250 yards on almost every hole. It is expensive to play but the condition of the course almost makes it worth it. We teed off early (8.40am) and the pace of play was some of the best we experienced in the Algarve i.e. we got round in less than 4.5 hours, which was a treat. |

Vale do Lobo Ocean on Mon, 7th Oct 2024 Vale do Lobo Ocean Course Review Check in was very easy and Staff were all friendly. The course was busy but pace of play moved well and we took around 4.5hrs to play the 18 holes. The Course is not maintained in terms of unfilled divots on the fairways, which was disappointing. Vale do Lobo should make it mandatory for every player to carry a Sand Bags on their Golf Trolley/Bag and provide Bottles of Sand on each Cart, so that divots can be filled in on the fairways. Also despite signs on every flag on the greens, players were failing to repair their pitch marks. We also noticed that the Greenkeeping Staff are allowing the Kikuyu grass to encroach onto the Greens which will negatively affect the putting surface, unless they work on this very soon. In summary, we were slightly disappointed with Vale Do Lobo Ocean Course, in terms of the maintenance of the course, and would choose other better maintained courses in the area, to get our value for money in the future. |

Ocean was certainly the better of the two with the greens being the big difference. Overall tee to green the course was in good shape considering it’s towards the end of the season. Due to the course being heavily watered, the rough is punishing. Costs everyone playing many shots. Bunkers were impeccable. |

Vale do Lobo Ocean on Wed, 31st Jul 2024 Quality as per usual A great course in the Vale do lobo and Quinta do Lago region , I play it a couple of times per year , condition of the course is always at a high standard , it is a touch more friendly off the tee than the Royal , playing at 07.20 means a lot of workers on the course so flow of the round wasn’t there , maybe got unlucky that Wednesday is a big maintenance day , for the green fee price of the Ocean course it’s one not to be missed |

No delays on course which was great. We were disappointed that the driving range was limited to a maximum 9 iron, but we weren’t informed about that before buying too many tokens (non refundable) and we were unable to use 1 bay with net around it for (wood through to 8 iron) as it had holes in it - apparently to be replaced next week. Maintenance crew out on hole 5 at left bunker were also in danger as unsighted from tee box and weren’t helpful in moving their cart to allow a 2nd shot chip into the green. |

We didn’t see a beverage cart until well into the back 9 despite calling for one at least 3-4 times. Very disappointing considering it was really hot that day. I did mention this to the course admin but they said the beverage cart is not managed by them but rather the restaurant attached. Such a shame. |
