The Royal was a big hit with players in our group who hadn’t played it and also with those who have played it before, conditioning was excellent and I would go as far to say the two Vale Do Lobo courses are the best conditioned in the area. I’d play it every week and never get bored |

Course and facilities were excellent, my only gripe was with the Buggies and staff responsible for them, 1 of our buggies broke down on the 7th hole so had to be towed by the other buggy, we messaged the clubhouse and had no response, we was towed to the 9th green, we went to the buggy park to exchange the buggy and explained that no one had responded to the message and they were quite rude, we finally got another buggy only to find the park brake did not work, after we completed the 18 holes we went to complain at the clubhouse to find no one was there and nobody at the golf reception either. |

Vale do Lobo Ocean on Mon, 13th Apr 2026 One of the most scenic courses in the world. Facilities and staff were 1st class. The course was in excellent condition and beautifully maintained. The only issue was the weather, because of the excessive winds throughout the round(25-30mph), it made golfing a real struggle. We tried to cancel the day before knowing what the winds would be like but were told we'd forfeit our fees. Might want to consider that for the future. Still glad we played even though the golf was a struggle. We were joined by a single digit golfer from Germany and he'd never experienced that kind of wind during any previous round he'd played. |

Vale do Lobo Ocean on Sun, 30th Nov 2025 Too many blind shots Played the Ocean Course on a beautiful, calm, sunny day in the Algarve. Have to say though, not my favourite golf course. Several forced layups (at least for me who hits it only 200-215 yds off the tee) on the front nine and “blind†approaches to a number of elevated greens, that are relatively small to begin with. Back nine has 3 or 4 blind tee shots and more blind, elevated green approaches. The 14th and 15th down by the beach are beautiful, as advertised, but I'm afraid they don't make up for the rest of the routings shortcomings. Another “blind†approach to the elevated 18th finishes off the round. And no water available in the clubhouse, at the turns, or on the course (that you don't have to buy in a plastic bottle) for those of us with water bottles. |

We also player at the VDL Royal course once. We like Ocean course much better between the 2 VDL courses. The overall course condition was excellent, and staff were very kind. Most impressive moments were several ocean view holes and amazing sunset view when we played in the afternoon. I would strongly recommend Ocean course to any golfers visiting Algarve central area, |

Vale do Lobo Royal on Wed, 1st Oct 2025 Dreadful greens - unfriendly ‘welcome'. Not in the same class as Quinta courses. Greens were in shocking condition. Staff were not welcoming and felt like we were on a production line rather than a valued client. One lady was told that her dress was not acceptable (if that is the dress code then fair enough although many on the ladies tour have worn them) yet men were wearing shorts/shirts that wouldn't have been allowed at our local municipal course. Sixteen of us, all sadly agreed we would not return and that there are far superior courses in the area. |

However the greens are not in good condition. A lot of pitch marks not repaired and very sandy bumpy surface. A lot of divots on the fairways not repaired or filled. Since this year they have this GPS protection system. You can hardly drive 50% of the fairways and they charge the same amount as before. So I wont play Vake do Lobo anymore! |

Quite busy at twilight times, so round will take at least four hours. Buggy essential due to distances from green to next tee. |

Vale do Lobo Ocean on Mon, 31st Mar 2025 Too Slow Great course in decent condition considering all the rain they had had got the last month or so. Played 2 rounds. On the Tues we got paired with 2 great guys and had a very enjoyable round. On the Thurs we were a 2 ball stuck behind 3-4 groups of hackers. What we could see in front of us defied belief. Not sure why they ask for your World Handicap Index at Reception as they clearly don't check it. The people in front of us shouldn't be on a golf course of this standard and price. 5 minute waits on every shot not acceptable. I phoned reception and complained and also spoke to the on course Marshall but he just shrugged and said “it's slow todayâ€. |

Pace was very good until the 9th hole with further backups on 12-14. I mentioned to ranger monitoring play they need push some groups along, especially give that you had started to rain. Otherwise a nice day. |

The holes by the ocean are spectacular with the roar of the surf. This is good because it took 5 hours 20 minutes to get round. These courses must inspect handicaps and keep hackers off when it's busy. The wait spoiled a great day. |

However we found it challenging with thick rough and no run on the fairways which makes it a very testing round of golf. It would have been better had the tee times been more structured as we were constantly being asked to let individual and 2 balls through which did slow our game. All staff were very attentive. One minor moan - the on course toilets left a bit to be desired. |

However, greens have quite some holes and fairways consist of a variety of grass types which provides a rather uneven surface sometimes. Due to the heavy rains the night before there were also wet spots but tolerable. Also play was very slow with 5 hours for 18 holes. |
