Golf in Vilamoura

The Vilamoura Resort is the name given to an area rather than to any actual town. It is outstanding in that it is one of the largest single tourist complexes in Europe and covers some 2.000 hectares of land. Due to the size of Vilamoura it offers the visitor nearly every form of sport and entertainment and to on its southern border is a long sandy beach.

Facilities include six golf courses, a Boat Marina, a Lawn Bowling Club, a Tennis Centre, a Sports Club, a Shooting Club, 5-star and 4-star Hotels, Tourist Apartments, self-catering Villas, Night Clubs, a Casino with glamorous shows and a Horse Riding School. Around the Marina are many shops, bars and restaurants offering different cuisines.

There are six challenging courses in the Resort area. These are the championship Victoria Golf Course, the Millennium Golf Course, the Pinhal Golf Course and the Laguna Golf Course. Attached to the Resort is the 27-hole Vila sol Golf Course.

Slow Pace of Play Detracts From Nice Course
DO NOT PLAY this course if you like to play rounds in under 4 hours. Waited on every shot. Dom Pedro Golf think 4 hours 40 mins is acceptable for a round of golf. Too many sub standard players that should not be allowed to hold up play for the rest of the field. No one let us through and marshall was powerless.
The pace of play detracted from a lovely course in good condition.

Good and well maintained fairways and greens. Cartpaths need maintenance. Missing short game practice greens.

18 on The Old after Storms
Fantastic round on The Old this morning, storms the previous day meant 5/6 big trees had fallen down but no impact on the golf and I was really impressed with the drainage, no puddles at all just a few bunkers out of play and no buggy option which was ace.
I found it pretty tight even with no wind and playing off 3 handicap I was pretty rusty but lost balls were bad shots and good shots and straight drives rewarded with easier approaches and angles into the greens.
Green were great and fairways.
I can see why this was top rated in Portugal before Monte Rei came along
Highly recommend this golf course in the Algarve, not too dissimilar to Palmeras in places but better all round
