on Mon, 13th Nov 2023 You get what you pay for. Staff is friendly and helpful. Not exactly a premier course. Fun to play because of the huge elevation changes. You need to play this one more than once to know where to land your ball, unless you are playing with a local. If you have a low ball flight don't expect to score well. Greens are reasonable, fairways have mixed grass and not impressive. Very few ball washers or garbage cans. Driving range balls are an antique collection. If you are comparing prices in the area basically you pay for what you get. |

on Mon, 17th Jul 2023 Challenging course which needs some renovation Challenging and interesting course, very hilly and windy and a lot of blind shots. And here is the problem: the course is badly signed for course newbies. Hole descriptions at the tee boxes fade away with the sunshine of the last 20 years. They have to be reinstalled. And even the signs of the buggy paths are missing on some holes. The overall setting is a little old fashioned, nevertheless an interesting course, which has to be played more often to know the right spots. |

on Sun, 26th Mar 2023 Course itself was in much better shape than most that we’ve played this spring. Steep grades and sloping fairways make for a challenging game, but totally enjoyable and excellent pace of play. Some signs of deferred maintenance on the property, but nothing that would affect your game. Excellent value. |

on Thu, 16th Mar 2023 Too slow! We have played the course 3 times over 3 years. It generally played ok but tee information was faded and needs some TLC. The course should not have accepted our booking as we were playing behind a competition. It took 1 hour 40 mins to complete the last 6 holes. It totally spoiled our round especially when the Marshall said the course would close at 5.45 pm. And that we might not get to finish our round. This is totally unacceptable when you have paid full price for a round! |

on Thu, 12th Jan 2023 So disappointing to revisit Santa Antonio when the semi rough was completely uncared for. It’s a course, with such severe slopes, that needs the ball to be released from semi rough. Just a mess off the fairways The bunkers were disgraceful. Completely unplayable, just a mess. The worst condition I have seen the course in and well over 5 hours to play (in a 4 ball) because you couldn’t find your ball just a couplu of yards off the fairway |

on Sat, 24th Sep 2022 Enjoyed but it needs major investment A good test of golf with an unusual mix of holes from very short par 3's to long par 4's. Greens are generally poor to average with a couple being very ropey. It's cheaper than others at the moment so I'd still play it again at those rates. The whole complex including the cafe ( I didnt fancy eating there) needs major investment and looks like it's on it's last legs. The buggies have bald tyres that are unsafe. The staff in the Pros shop were very friendly and welcoming. |

on Thu, 14th Apr 2022 Somewhat disappointing course I liked the architecture of the course, lots of ups and downs, not easy. The fairways and greens unfortunatly were not well maintained. on Sun, 27th Mar 2022 Not worth it The caveat to this review is that it isn’t based on me having a bad day (which I did!) as I have played badly on many courses but rated them highly. Conditions were poor with scrappy and uneven tee-boxes and the greens were untidy and very slow. Back 9 definitely less challenging than front 9, but also much better laid out to be fair. Buggies in poor condition too with little padding left in the torn seats. One of the few courses of the almost 200 we played across Europe, Asia, Americas and Caribbean that I definitely would not bother with again. |

on Tue, 27th Oct 2020 A real gem of a course A real gem of a course. Extremely hilly, so definitely need a buggy, but it really gets you thinking in terms of ball placement, as the ball can end up a long way away sideways from where it initially lands. However, this also lends some of the nicest views I have come across in golf. Greens were good and played true. |

on Wed, 27th Nov 2019 A real challenge! on Tue, 20th Aug 2019 Right and tough but well worth a visit. Tough, tight, and hilly but a great challenge and well worth a visit. Always in good condition and even the brown parts of the course have good grass coverage. You will need to play sensible golf and keep the driver at home, as it isn’t overly long but it does require accurate tee shots. If the wind is blowing - good luck, it can put 4 clubs (up or down) on any shot if you have the wind behind or into your face. Getting accurate distance is tough. |

on Mon, 15th Jul 2019 Tricky But Fun Have played many rounds in Portugal but it was our first visit to Santo Antonio and we were not disappointed. Great course, tricky tee shots and tight in places however, stunning views (if the golf isn't going great) and would recommend. 20 handicapper may find it a bit of a challenge, however it's not massively long so playable by all. Very enjoyable course and would defiantly play again. The 19th has cracking views too!! |
