Fabulous Course
Fabulous course - challenging without driving you to the edge of sanity. Staff are friendly and it is a reasonable price - worth getting a buggy. Look forward to playing it again on our next visit.

Don’t play this course unless you have to
I have been playing this course for over 20 years and quite simply it needs a huge amount of investment

The staff are terse and bordering on rude, the whole course has an air of tiredness!

Tough course
Extremely challenging course with lots of blind holes. Be prepared to walk a lot uphill and downhill even when on a buggy.

Highly recommended
Spectacular views and a challenging but playable course. In great condition with lovely greens. Buggy recommended due the terrain.

You get what you pay for.
Staff is friendly and helpful. Not exactly a premier course. Fun to play because of the huge elevation changes. You need to play this one more than once to know where to land your ball, unless you are playing with a local. If you have a low ball flight don't expect to score well. Greens are reasonable, fairways have mixed grass and not impressive. Very few ball washers or garbage cans. Driving range balls are an antique collection. If you are comparing prices in the area basically you pay for what you get.

Santo Antonio (Parque da Floresta)
Course in reasonable condition bearing in mind the recent weather. Greens were good. Overall though it looks like it needs some investment as tatty signage, fences etc

Joao saved the day
A non golf review.

We got locked out of our villa (long story), but Joao at the golf club found us a long ladder early morning and I managed to get in.

Challenging course which needs some renovation
Challenging and interesting course, very hilly and windy and a lot of blind shots. And here is the problem: the course is badly signed for course newbies. Hole descriptions at the tee boxes fade away with the sunshine of the last 20 years. They have to be reinstalled. And even the signs of the buggy paths are missing on some holes.

The overall setting is a little old fashioned, nevertheless an interesting course, which has to be played more often to know the right spots.

Tough day on the golf course
Quite a short but challenging course. Lot of bushes meaning any balls off the fairway were severely punished. Quite a few blind tee-shots. Course in OK condition.

Course itself was in much better shape than most that we’ve played this spring. Steep grades and sloping fairways make for a challenging game, but totally enjoyable and excellent pace of play. Some signs of deferred maintenance on the property, but nothing that would affect your game. Excellent value.

Too slow!
We have played the course 3 times over 3 years. It generally played ok but tee information was faded and needs some TLC. The course should not have accepted our booking as we were playing behind a competition. It took 1 hour 40 mins to complete the last 6 holes. It totally spoiled our round especially when the Marshall said the course would close at 5.45 pm. And that we might not get to finish our round. This is totally unacceptable when you have paid full price for a round!

So disappointing to revisit Santa Antonio when the semi rough was completely uncared for. It’s a course, with such severe slopes, that needs the ball to be released from semi rough. Just a mess off the fairways

The bunkers were disgraceful. Completely unplayable, just a mess.

The worst condition I have seen the course in and well over 5 hours to play (in a 4 ball) because you couldn’t find your ball just a couplu of yards off the fairway

Super expierience
What a great course. A good test of golfing on the Algarve. I loved the many elevated tees, green in good condition and some of them quite challenging. Excellent pro shop staff, and after golf, an elevated bar with views onto the 18th green. I'll be back again.

Great course in Western Algarve
Nice course, but not as well maintained as other courses nearby. When Bellavista Golf is fully booked, try Santo Antonio Parque de Floresta.

Enjoyed but it needs major investment
A good test of golf with an unusual mix of holes from very short par 3's to long par 4's. Greens are generally poor to average with a couple being very ropey. It's cheaper than others at the moment so I'd still play it again at those rates. The whole complex including the cafe ( I didnt fancy eating there) needs major investment and looks like it's on it's last legs. The buggies have bald tyres that are unsafe. The staff in the Pros shop were very friendly and welcoming.

A Pleasant Suprise !!
Having heard bad things we were really impressed with the course.

Front nine is tricky ( lots of sloping lies/ blind t shots etc)

Back nine is definitely better, very enjoyable and great value.

Not worth a visit, much better courses
Not well maintained, people not reall friendly, very old infrastructure, the worst experience in the last 2 weeks here in the Algarve. Buggies are dirty and even toilets are very old.

Good course, great condition
Thought the course was in excellent condition both fairways and greens

Very demanding today with 2-3 club wind through the valleys. In fact it was wind against on 13 out of 18 holes

Quite challenging if you walk but did love the way each hole changed

Would definitely play again and at a cost of 45 euros it’s a bargain

Never Stop Enjoying This Course
I've been playing at the course for around 15 years now and still enjoy it just as much as I did when I first started. Unique design and variety of holes in beautiful surroundings with a fab terrace and bar overlooking the 18th green to finish - my favourite course to play.

Santo Antonio was good fun and quite challenging, with some interesting changes of elevation tee to green. Would perhaps have been hard work without a buggy. Very helpful staff in the golf shop and bar.

My favourite course
100% my favourite course in the world (that I’ve played). Very hilly and usually quite windy, but nonetheless really, really enjoyable. I’ve been here 6 years in a row now and won’t hesitate to come back next time. The greens are pretty true and the backdrop and scenery is outstanding.

Somewhat disappointing course
I liked the architecture of the course, lots of ups and downs, not easy. The fairways and greens unfortunatly were not well maintained. Clubhouse and especially the restaurant are a disgrace, which seems quite astonishing because the course is surrounded by million-euro villas

Not worth it
The caveat to this review is that it isn’t based on me having a bad day (which I did!) as I have played badly on many courses but rated them highly.

Conditions were poor with scrappy and uneven tee-boxes and the greens were untidy and very slow.

Back 9 definitely less challenging than front 9, but also much better laid out to be fair.

Buggies in poor condition too with little padding left in the torn seats.

One of the few courses of the almost 200 we played across Europe, Asia, Americas and Caribbean that I definitely would not bother with again.

Absolutely in love with this course. Challenging but fair. Makes you think (and think again) about every shot you are about to take. Could not name just one favorite hole, that would not be fair to the other holes :). Special thanks to Aurora travels for recommend this beautiful venue to play and book t-time and greenfees. A real gem of a course
A real gem of a course. Extremely hilly, so definitely need a buggy, but it really gets you thinking in terms of ball placement, as the ball can end up a long way away sideways from where it initially lands. However, this also lends some of the nicest views I have come across in golf. Greens were good and played true.

I really liked the course, everything looked nice and fairways and greens were very fast.

A lot of height differences which made it very interesting to play.

I would recommend a buggy, but even then you have to walk a fair amount as they needed to stay on the paths.

A real challenge!
We’ve played here many times and still struggle to shoot a respectable score mainly because of the steeply sloping fairways which demand you find the level ground - often easier said than done. Well worth the trip, course is always in good condition and always a challenge!

An interesting course with a variety of holes, some blind and some with elevated greens. The course was in excellent condition with the greens in particular in very good. The bunkers could, however, have done with some more sand in them. Overall, a very good course and good value for money.

Nice but challenging
A tough course with lots of blind shots. Most fairways are sloping one way or the other. Staff very nice.

Right and tough but well worth a visit.
Tough, tight, and hilly but a great challenge and well worth a visit. Always in good condition and even the brown parts of the course have good grass coverage. You will need to play sensible golf and keep the driver at home, as it isn’t overly long but it does require accurate tee shots. If the wind is blowing - good luck, it can put 4 clubs (up or down) on any shot if you have the wind behind or into your face. Getting accurate distance is tough.

Tricky But Fun
Have played many rounds in Portugal but it was our first visit to Santo Antonio and we were not disappointed. Great course, tricky tee shots and tight in places however, stunning views (if the golf isn't going great) and would recommend.

20 handicapper may find it a bit of a challenge, however it's not massively long so playable by all. Very enjoyable course and would defiantly play again.

The 19th has cracking views too!!

Spectaculary course, very hilly in good shape. Not recommendable for elder player because on at least 8 holes buggy on fairways forbitten. Can be difficult for player with 'double' handicap. Should be known before booking.
