Quinta do Lago North Telegraph Vitality Junior Golf Championship Sun, 19th Nov 2017 Telegraph Vitality Junior Championship - North Course - Quinta do Lago - Almancil Algarve - 10th November, 2017. The Championship was won by a 14 year old golfer named Max Hopkins. He posted scores of 71, 72 and 71 beating his nearest competitor Ben Jones by three strokes. |

Quinta do Lago North McGinley Junior Cup Thu, 6th Jul 2017 For the fifth year the McGinley Junior Cup will be held on the North Course in Quinta do Lago on the 2nd to the 4th of August. This annual event is open to boys and girls up to the age of 18 years and costs € 65.00 to enter. The winner will receive a wild-card for the BMW Junior Golf Championship to be held on the same course on the 9th to the 11th in November 2017. |

Jose Ferreira heads the everyday running of the academy. The latest addition is the TaylorMade Fitting Centre and the first one of its kind in Portugal. After your swing has been analysed, the golfer is fitted out with a bespoke set of clubs that take account of the individual quirks and enable players to hit the ball just that little bit farther and straighter. All professional golfers have fitted clubs as a matter of course and extending this same technology to amateurs has many benefits. |

Laranjal Fri, 1st May 2009 Although it had been open on an experimental basis for several weeks previously the third course at Quinta do Lago was officially opened in April. Called the Laranjal, which is Portuguese for an orange grove, it was built on land a few kilometres east of the main Quinta do Lago estate near the small village of Ludo where orange cultivation is the dominant land use in the area. In fact many new orange trees were planted and other existing ones retained to line many of the fairways, together with avocado trees and natural species such as mature pine-trees. It is pleasantly laid out and its course designer, Jorge Santana da Silva – who learned his trade with Robert Trent Jones Sr. – has done a fantastic job in moulding the natural landscape into a beautiful course. |

San Lorenzo Sun, 1st Jun 2008 After an absence of some six years Hotel Dona Filipa & San Lorenzo Golf Course has welcomed back the 'Husbands & Wives' Golf Tournament. The Stableford competition at San Lorenzo golf course, over the 6th to 10th May, received a total of 42 players. The winners, Mr and Mrs Peter Samuel, who are members at Hankley Common Golf Club in Surrey, have competed in the Husbands & Wives competition for the first time. Their winning score of 167 Stableford points was achieved over 72 holes and four rounds of the competition. |

A total of 93 players took part and G. Sloan won the men's prize with 40 Stableford points, followed closely by J. Cavell on 39. Two ladies, Janet Kaye and Judy McDowell tied the lead with first place going to the former after a count-back. |

Quinta da Boavista is hosting a charity tournament on 11th September to raise funds for the Lagos Voluntary Fire Department and victims of the serious wildfires that have raged throughout the Algarve over the past couple of years. |

Pinheiros Altos Tue, 1st Jun 2004 At Pinheiros Altos, the team composed of Solheim Cup player Elisabeth Esterl, Ian Cater, Alan Beasley and Doug Moody won with a score of 56 strokes, followed by teams headed by Stefania Croce and Cecilie Lundgreen. The next day at Quinta do Lago, the winning team was Cecilie Lundgreeen with Steve Whittell, Simon Berger and Bob Oliphant (54.4 strokes), with Ludivine Kreutz's team 2nd and Katie Bakken's 3rd. |

Pinheiros Altos Sat, 1st May 2004 After last year's successful charity event in the Algarve which raised over 37,000 Euros, several professionals - including Lis Esterl, Lisa Hed and Cecilie Lundgreen - from the Ladies European Tour - will be here again to participate in another Pro-Am and golf clinic to raise funds for ACCA (local children in need) and Eyes for Zimbabwe (restoring sight to Zimbabweans). The clinic, which is free, will be on the 10th of May, followed by 5-ball Texas Scrambles for both amateurs of both sexes at Pinheiros Altos and Quinta do Lago (11th-12th May). |
