Alamos. A course for everyone
Probably one of the easiest golf courses on the Algarve but great fun. Some interesting holes which make you think about your tee shot and approach.

Lovely course, friendly and helpful staff. Was challenging in places but everyone loved this. Would highly recommend for medium to high handicap players.

Disappointing condition of a good course.
I have always been a fan of both Morgado and Alamos courses particularly the back nine on the former and the front nine on the latter. However I was disappointed on this visit in the condition of the course. The greens were slow and there was little definition between fairway and rough. Of greater concern was the amount of long coarse grass on the approaches and surrounds to the greens which made it look scruffy. I didn't understand why these areas hadn't been treated with a product like Rescue to kill off the invasive species. I am sure it just needs some care and attention to bring it back to normal.

Superb round at Alamos!
Alamos is a superb course with plenty of challenging and fair holes. The views are really nice and the course was in excellent condition. The only reason this doesn't get 5 stars is that the greens were extremely slow. The growth and coverage on them was superb, but they were more like really short fairways. However it didn't detract too much from the day as in most cases you could get aggressive with shots at the flag.

The clubhouse is really nice with a terrace over looking the driving range and some of the holes from the Morgado course. The food and drink was excellent.

Decent
Decent value for money, short and tight course with some nice and intersesting holes. Worth playing as part of a golf holiday but not as a main event I would suggest ...

Good condition but slow play
Course in great condition. Fairly short but means that you have to play for position rather than just smashing it. We were stuck a few groups back of a 40 man society. Very slow play.

Very pleasant welcome, good hire equipment, well signed and nIce scenery. Greens were slow, bunkers need raked, long distance between holes. All in all nice course.

Scenic and tricky. Bring a good short game.
Superb scenic course. Quite short but extremely difficult greens. Course very dry. Very tight lies on fairways making approach shots to hard dry greens difficult. Greens very firm but good surface. Enjoyable but tricky in the conditions. Glad to have had a buggy.

Disappointed and will choose somewhere else next.
Strange place. The approach is along a long drive and roadway past semi derelict unfinished apartments. Obviously the grand plan has not been fulfilled and whist the golf courses are successful the resort is not. The greens were true and good but the fairways are barren and bare through lack of watering. Tee beds poor. The impression is that costs are being cut. I will probably not return

Lomagolffarin kenttä
Hyvä lomagolffarin kenttä - ei mahdottoman pitkä eikä silti liian ahdistava, avaukset pääasiassa muilla kuin Draiverilla. Pohja kova ja kuivuuden takia aika kovat rullit.

Needs marshalled to stop slow play.
Good condition and by luck we got started early as the two four balls from Ireland on a “boys” trip took over 5 hours and held the whole course up. We were 1hour 45 for front nine and 2hours 15 for back nine. The group behind us had lost 5 holes to us. We were lucky but the people behind must have been furious. Needs marshalled for 160 euros for two.

Only one or two holes you have to think about

if you hit too long late in the round the ditches will grab your ball.

Course itself excellent we had a great round. Buggy steering collapsed on approach to 18th tee thanks to extremely bad track and attitude of staff almost accusing us of damaging buggy was not appreciated.

Miller/Logan annual golf outing
Greens good condition, but play painfully slow, almost 5 hours to complete round, waiting at every tee, on one par 5 four groups actually in play, one on green, two on fairway and one group on tee.....terrible

Marshaling and course organisation need improvement to improve speed of play

Club house & facilities excellent

This was a first time playing Alamos and what a pleasant surprise, not overly long but made up for that with tough greens, so don't be on the wrong side of the hole. The fairways are very generous and only the widest of shots severely punished but it's the putting were the fun begins, today's pins had been placed by either the Marquis de Sade or Remy Gaillard, so bring your putting A game.

Great value ...in Algarve
Played twice this week. Great value for green fee buggy and clubs. Course in good nick. First nine more challenging than second nine. Only negative was distance markers which are not correct in many places. Would play again and looking forward to playing Morgado because staff etc all excellent including the nice touch of cool towels brought out by the staff half way round.

Great course for holiday golf!
An enjoyable course with some nice views and some challenging holes.

The course was in good condition and the pace of play was very good, we got round in a 4 ball in under 4 hours.

Some of the holes on the back 9 are quite 'gentle' in terms of challenge, but these holes present an opportunity to get some birdies and shoot a good score!

great old guys course
our group of 50 plus golfers found the mougado course to be a very long track which was a good test of modern equipment but not a pleasure.

Alamos however being much shorter was much more to our taste. there is plenty of character and interest and is a very pleasing little layout

very poor experience indeed
I will not play here again, although everything was very good the course needs some serious work done on it.Fairways in very bad state owing to bad weather and poor upkeep.I imagine the course will come back to life as the weather.Again I pay for buggy but told stay off fairways, only using 90 degree angle to your ball, not much use for a high handicapped player.would look the course over before playing again.

Buggies and fairways
Told not to use buggies on fairways at Alamos because fairways are sodden, there was nothing wrong with fairways, there were some really bad patches but common sense tells you no to drive over them.Spent more time walking back and forth to play my shots.Would have been better with a trolley or carrying my clubs would not have walked as much.As per normal it comes down to money, chances are you paid in advance so you have paid for something you cannot use intended.Cannot blame booking agency but the courses should be telling agency that buggies are limited to cart paths.

Alamos - Great holiday golf
Course is short by modern standards but will challenge all handicap categories to 'think your way around' and put the ball on the right part of the undulating greens. The greens had been sanded before our round (hence the loss of a star) which affected the roll of the ball, but did not prevent us from enjoying the experience.
Douglas Russell from United Kingdom

Poor poor poor
The course was in quite a poor condition, it had obviously been raining for a few days so fairways and rough were wet and heavy.

The greens had been tined and a covering of sand on all the greens made putting difficult.

When I booked the tee times well in advance, I had asked for an extra buggy as we wanted to go out in 2, three balls. Only to find on the day that the course had over booked the buggys so no chance of an extra one.

All in all not a happy chap, course in poor condition, no extra buggy and the course had so many none golfers it took forever to play.

I won't be back.

Nice course in good condition. Almost never a flat lie. In combination with rather strong winds we experienced that day, a true challenge. Greens had recently been worked at so they were slow. Tricky undulated those greens.

Morgado and Alamos Jewels in the West Algarve
Morgado and Alamos courses are part of the Morgado do Reguengo complex (hotel and 2 championship golf courses)

Open country.
Alamos was a welcome change from some of the other Algarve courses which can feel rather enclosed by villas and development. Not a villa in sight here, it's beautiful open country all around with plenty of wildlife. I spotted flocks of flamingos and storks and even bee-eaters here. Oh and I was there to play golf too! It's excellent condition and the greens are particularly good, all interesting shapes and slopes.

Arriving there is the biggest challenge! Alamos isn't signposted - aim for Morgardo because they share the same clubhouse (we didn't know). On entering the estate you go through a security gate and think you're there. But there is 4.5km over cobbled road, past half built and derelict hotels to negotiate first. The clubhouse was almost empty, all very strange. But It's a very nice course overall, good value and we'll be going back next time.
