Boavista on Mon, 8th Apr 2024 BoaVista was a great Warm welcome and the course was in very good condition. Very slow play and would have preferred to play as a 2 ball as were partnered with very high handicappers but they tried their best to keep up with time. |

Espiche Golf on Mon, 1st Apr 2024 Espiche Golf Club - well worth a visit! A traditional old style Portuguese course with plenty of mature trees. Course was in excellent condition, lots of sloping fairways and greens - not long but you need to be straight. Lovely clubhouse and friendly staff - well worth a visit. |

Santo Antonio on Sat, 9th Mar 2024 Fabulous Course Fabulous course - challenging without driving you to the edge of sanity. Staff are friendly and it is a reasonable price - worth getting a buggy. Look forward to playing it again on our next visit. |

Santo Antonio on Sun, 3rd Mar 2024 Don’t play this course unless you have to I have been playing this course for over 20 years and quite simply it needs a huge amount of investment The staff are terse and bordering on rude, the whole course has an air of tiredness! |

Boavista on Wed, 21st Feb 2024 Driving Range closed Very big disadvantage: the driving range has been closed for months due to broken side nets! This means that you can only practice short game or putting with Luis Espadinha, the PRO - which is a real shame! It's also not possible to practice tee shots before the round - really bad! The golf course is fantastic - challenging terrain with numerous wonderful views of Lagos and the bay. |

Espiche Golf on Thu, 15th Feb 2024 Definitely has great potential Great clubhouse and helpful staff. Tha course has a great layout which makes you play different shots from the t box. Not impressed with the lack or visibility of yardage markers and the superintendent needs to take better care of the greens and the invasive grasses around them. Parking was a bit odd as well. |

Espiche Golf on Wed, 14th Feb 2024 Lee J on tour Loved this course. I have played many courses in the south of Spain and The Algarve and this one ranks as having the most beautiful setting amongst the Portuguese hills . There are no developments surrounding the course nor busy roads so it is beautifully peaceful, enabling one to enjoy one’s golf, pure and simple. The course is quite challenging and requires accuracy in both teeing off and approach shots. The staff seem friendly and welcoming unlike some others. The Clubhouse offers super views of the actual course and landscapes surrounding the course. Price is fair and reasonable. A real ‘gem’ of a course. |

Palmares on Sat, 6th Jan 2024 Poor Condition and Value for Money. Great views and course layout. Very friendly and helpful staff but course in poor condition .. particularly greens on Praia 9. I believe owners are aware of and addressing the issues but I found it ( very ) poor value for the price I paid ( 100 euros a round ) From a golf course value/ perspective feels like 2 stars but gave it 3 stars because of quality of staff |

Espiche Golf on Thu, 4th Jan 2024 Tough layout but nice course Course & geeens in great condition, but I found layout tough, you have to keep the ball dead straight otherwise it will run off fairways into trouble, where you are unlikeky to find your ball. Fairways are lined with thick bushes & trees |

Santo Antonio on Mon, 13th Nov 2023 You get what you pay for. Staff is friendly and helpful. Not exactly a premier course. Fun to play because of the huge elevation changes. You need to play this one more than once to know where to land your ball, unless you are playing with a local. If you have a low ball flight don't expect to score well. Greens are reasonable, fairways have mixed grass and not impressive. Very few ball washers or garbage cans. Driving range balls are an antique collection. If you are comparing prices in the area basically you pay for what you get. |

Palmares on Tue, 7th Nov 2023 Poor Palmares. Do not visit Palmares!! I booked and paid for a tee time four four players and two buggies. On arrival I was informed that there were no buggies available. I explained that I needed the buggies as one player had an injury and could not walk the course, and was told to come back just before our tee time. Not a good preparation for a round but we got the buggies with two minutes to spare! The tees were in poor condition. The fairways were very bare in places with little or no grass coverage in areas, the bunkers were in very poor condition and had not been raked. The worst part were the greens which were in an appalling condition with bare patches, holes and obvious signs of disease. This was the most expensive course in the area and I would advise anyone thinking of playing it to go elsewhere. |

Palmares on Thu, 19th Oct 2023 Palamares - the course should be closed The course should not have been open, all the greens and tees were clearly in a very bad state of repair (lack of water is a poor excuse, they appeared to be diseased. The bunkers on the Praia course were also very poor condition, some sides caved in and sand 60cms deep in some places. Providing free buggies and one beer is hardly compensation, the course should be closed until all greens and tees are repaired or even relaid. |

Espiche Golf on Fri, 13th Oct 2023 Up in the hills First time there and an interesting - and reasonably challenging - course which we played twice and overall enjoyed. Tight in places. Good greens. A few blind shots when playing it for the first time with rogue bounces on those that sloped significantly. Clubhouse was excellent with friendly helpful staff. Good value |

Palmares on Fri, 13th Oct 2023 recent reviews don't lie. In a nutshell the greens (and tees) were really poor. We found that the staff tried hard to be realistic ( free buggy and free drink) and an apology before we teed off but the reality is that what has been a splendid course (on past trips) is well below standard for the price. It's a shame and we hope it will recover. |

Palmares on Thu, 12th Oct 2023 Shouldn't be open Gave it no stars, course shouldn't be open, greens and tees were a real mess. They said they had problems with salt in the water and offered a buggy free and a drink. If it was free i wouldn't play again. The free drink was a bottle of water, when we met the buggy car again they charged 4 euros a bottle for water. When we arrived we ordered coffee and full english breakfast, both were cold, when i told the bar manager he just said sorry.Really nice place but course and food let it down badly |

Palmares on Mon, 9th Oct 2023 Not sure I totally agree that course was in a bad condition because of wild boars and drought. Nice gesture for free buggies but I would have thought 25% off green fees would have been more appropriate. They have spent a lot of money of clubhouse in recent times. |

Palmares on Sun, 8th Oct 2023 Overambitious! We were promised free buggies as compensation for poor course condition, but none available. Exasperated staff kindly brought them to us on the seventh hole. The resort is expanding massively but management has failed to get the small things right...check-in, bar area, pro shop all too small, crowded and chaotic. Course condition badly affected by drought and wild boar. Three stars only because of friendly staff, otherwise would have been worse |

Espiche Golf on Thu, 5th Oct 2023 Semi rough and rough desperately needed A fantastic course but plays unfairly due to the severe runs offs into scrub. Some definition of rough would really help. This course could be one of the very best but the greenkeepers need to put in some definition to make the course fair |

Palmares on Thu, 5th Oct 2023 Urgent need of water A fantastic course in urgent need of unsalted water to save the greens. The course is one of the best I have ever played, but the greens were very poor due to disease from using salt water. Lots of investment in real estate surrounding the course but desperately in need of a desalination plant. |

Espiche Golf on Thu, 5th Oct 2023 Unfairness spoils a great course This course is a great course, however the slopes and run offs render the golf a lottery. If you find the middle of the fairway you dont expect it to roll back 60-70 yards and then you second well struck shot aiming over trees runs across a slope by 50 yards into a hazard. The slopes are there, they need to grow in some rough on the extremes of hazards. Spent too long looking for balls from well hit shots. This course could be amazing but they will have to make it fair to good play. |

Palmares on Thu, 5th Oct 2023 Urgent need for water Was very saddened to see Palamares in the condition it is in. Was so looking forward to playing it. They have a problem with extracting water from the reservoir due to the lack of rain for months. So they are using salt water which is causing disease and killing the greens. It is such a shame because if you look beyond this it is a stunning course in every way. Just because the greens are suffering there is no need for golfers to not repair pitchmarks they are just exacerbating the problem. I hope they can get the water issue sorted before the greens are too far gone. With all the real estate being built would it not be prudent to build a desalination plant. This problem will only worsen without a water supply. |

Palmares on Tue, 3rd Oct 2023 Dreadful Greens not worth 115 Euros a round The course although a lovely set up was really disappointing. The greens and Tee boxes on the 9 hole Alvor course were dreadful ! The green were covered in damage, lots of white sand patches and had not been looked after. Apparently they had been trampled on by wild Boar. Equally the Tee Boxes were terrible. We were provided with a free buggy but if we had the option of not playing and getting a refund I would have gone for that option. Really poor. I have emailed the course Mr Andrade but heard nothing back. |
