I got the summer special for myself and my partner and assumed, given the low price, that this course ma may be a slightly poorer relation to some of the higher green fees on the coast. I was wrong; I’m a huge lover of Faldo’s design and this is one of the best I’ve played. It tests your all round game, has stunning views and is a very interesting layout from beginning to end. I particularly enjoyed the elevated tees and would say this is not a course for the faint of heart with many uphill shots and undulating fairways. Definitely take a buggy and definitely include this in your bucket list.

This is a very well maintained course with some exceptional views. It is let down ever so slightly compared to some of the exquisite courses on the Algarve by the fact that it has a few holes which don’t linger in the mind. It is however a great test of golf and has some lovely moments. I’m pleased I played it, but would want to test out the Royal course before teeing up on the Ocean again. The condition of the course was excellent with lightening quick greens and very well maintained fairways.

Frankly, I was amazed to read some of the reviews of this course from the last 12 months. I’ve played a lot of golf courses all around the world and I play to a single figure handicap; this course is possibly my favourite that I’ve ever come across. It tests every aspect of your game: long holes needing course management, short target holes, well placed traps and very impressively a few holes in links setup. The greens were in better condition than Quinta do Lago and the Old Course, and the fairways were a little bare in places, but by-enlarge were like carpets. It was well run by friendly staff, and the only small gripe I had is that it was €4 for 24 balls on the range. Honestly, an incredible test of golf and a beautiful setup.

We visited today for the second time and had another great experience. We played the south course and had a great time. The course was in immaculate condition, albeit with slightly sandy greens at times.The staff were very welcoming and if I had anything at all to offer in terms of feedback, it would be that the green keepers were sometimes a little too present on the course; this was off putting to some of our higher handicappers.Overall it justifies its hype as a golfing deity.

It was lovely to be back. The course was in the best condition I’ve seen. The staff are always friendly and I find the course to be very charming and approachable for a broad range of handicappers. It’s a great layout and lovely to be playing in amongst mature trees.
